JWF History - Expansion
The Three founding members went to the local wrestling event and ran into
a group of young guys hurling abuse at the loved wrestlers there and
cheering the heels. The right attitude for the JWF. They approached the
hecklers and produced a video for them to take and watch. Unknown to the
JWF trio, these guys had tried setting up there own backyard company only
a month before, with people failing to turn up when they were meant to it
had failed and the NLW (No Limit Wrestling) had died. With six of the NLW
members still in touch with each other the main two, Steve Crane (NeXuS)
and Steve Evison (Jimmy D’Ranged) watched the video and decided this
could be their chance to get into something good. They signed up and
Jimmy immediately joined the small faction, the CWO, being led by Neno
Cross while Nexus opted to side with Seven. Another thing the NLW boys
brought was a crash mat which had been their flooring, so this was added
to the yard along with ropes tied to the four washing line posts in Seven's
yard. The JWF had a ring.
However with the departure of both Dirty White Boy and Hazeldon the
numbers didn’t increase for long. Until Nexus called on his friends who had
wrestled with in school in what they called the CWF (Chatsmore Wrestling
Federation). One former CWF member, John Hobbs, became the senior
official and the Punisher also joined.
Things were going well for the company till the neighbours complained about
the wrestling next door, so a new venue was needed. Nexus had the
answer, between the CWF and NLW years he had had a match with a few
friends in a room they rented at the Sydney Walter Centre, so the crash
mat moved their and the second generation of the JWF began. Three chairs and rope plus the front of a stage became the JWF ring.
The JWF happily stayed in this venue from Dec 02 to Aug 03. Whilst here
the JWF grew beyond expectation and bloomed to having a further thirteen
members join, Edd Logan, Sphinx, Pete Vicious, Bedlam, Anarchy Alex, Trip,
The Beast, Scythe, Rage, Marky B, Velocity and The Destroyer. All the
above remained except The Destroyer, Velocity and Rage.
With this influx of members the talent also grew, with everyone learning off
each other the company grew and grew. The JWF celebrated its anniversary
by holding its biggest event ever Home Is Where The Hurt Is, and for this
show the JWF went home, back to the yard for a one off show and pulled
off the best event in the companies history. Also having the JWF’s first
brush with the law, a skit more realistic then we could have hoped for
involving Seven kidnapping the Punisher and driving away with him bound
and gagged. Some locals saw this and phoned the police who turned up,
we explained what was happening and showed them the footage. We had a
laugh and they looked very unimpressed.
